The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK), Rome (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain). EMBL is a world-leading international molecular biology research organisation providing an exciting environment for both scientists and scientific management.
The Arendt group is looking for a Project Manager with excellent experience in scientific project management to support the coordination of the Marie Sklodowska Curie ITN (Innovative Training Network), “EvoCELL - Animal evolution from a cell type perspective: multidisciplinary training in single-cell genomics, evo-devo and in science outreach”. The network focusses on single-cell genomics applied to the study of evolution and development of different marine organisms. It involves 12 labs from across the EU, and will hire 20 early stage researchers (typically predocs). EvoCELL will provide an articulated training program that, besides scientific training in the partner labs, includes scientific outreach and soft-skills training, as well as exposure to alternative career paths such as scientific writing, R&D in companies, and support to science.
The successful candidate will work closely with the coordinator of the network, Dr. Detlev Arendt, the other members of the network, the fellows and the EMBL administration.
Among others, the Project Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Organizing and coordinating training and scientific events (summer courses, annual graduate schools, conferences and workshops on site and abroad).
- Communication within the network and with others outside the project, including dissemination activities.
- Acting as a reference and contact point for the consortium regarding all administrative and legal regulations of an ITN/H2020, as well as the EC IT tools.
- Compiling and delivering project reports to the EC.
